HERAT SECURITY DIALOGUE BEGINS IN DUSHANBE – The 10th Herat Security Dialogue opened in Tajikistan with statements from regional and international delegates. Afghanistan was the dominant topic and several regional participants once again reiterated concerns about a growing threat of terrorism from the stricken country. Many of the
delegates voiced concerns about the plight of women under Taliban rule. The Taliban responded by saying that women’s rights are protected under the new regime. Tajikistan was chosen for the site of the summit due to security concerns in Afghanistan.
