Iran has closed its border with Afghanistan for an undisclosed amount of time. Iranian border officials crossed into Afghan territory near the Islam Qala district in order to investigate a road that was being constructed and is thought to have breached the border. Taliban border guards seized the vehicle the Iranians were traveling in and both sides remain at high alert.
A bomb blast was reported in Sar-e-Pul province. The target is thought to have been a school. No further information is available.
The Taliban have arrested several forgers who have been passing fake Afghani banknotes. According to a Ministry of the Interior source, the notes are being printed in a neighboring country and smuggled in as medical supplies. He also claimed this was the fourth arrest since February, and all are believed to belong to the same criminal network.
