Iran temporarily halted consular affairs activities in Afghanistan as a result of recent protests that saw rocks thrown at Iranian diplomatic missions. The Iranian Foreign Ministry firmly reminded the Taliban of their responsibility to provide security for their facilities and staff. Iranian officials continue to allude to “enemies” who are seeking to divide Afghanistan and Iran. Exactly who they are referring to is not clear. Later in the day, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that Iranian consular activities had resumed.
New Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared a desire to seek peaceful resolutions in Afghanistan, Kashmir, and Palestine in remarks following his election.

More clashes are expected in Badakhshan. The Taliban are attempting to direct ground forces by air but continue to have issues with stable communications.
The Taliban will strengthen security around all diplomatic facilities in Kabul and consulates in other provinces. Security forces have been ordered to “immediately disperse any gatherings” and “arrest suspected leaders of protests”.
